Production Stages - part 1 of 3

In chronological order, we have included below our key stages of tufted carpet manufacture.

Process One - dyeing

Dyeing

Adam Carpets purchase spun yarn which is then dyed in our own vats. The predominant blend is 80% Wool / 20% Nylon although other blends are used in lesser quantities.

Experience shows that the characteristics of Wool give the best basis for a quality carpet i.e. colour, texture, appearance and durability.

The picture below shows one of our dye vats which can dye up to 2000 kilos at a time.

The vat temperatures are computer controlled, as are the dye recipes, and the colours are matched via a "Spectrophotometer" to ensure that the colour is a true match to the set standard. However, Wool is a natural fibre and colour may vary slightly from batch to batch.
